It would not be in the Protocol guide if it wasn't ok to do.
When you are running the remote preset, the amplitude is set to 10v, and since the contact leads are not in use, even if they are still wired in, they should not be touching. Therefore, all the voltage will go to the remote. Since this is on a boost, 10v peak to peak will be doubled to 20v peak to peak.
When you are running the contact preset, the amplitude is set to 20v. If you left the remote plugged in, this is what takes place.
1. The boost doubles the voltage from 20v peak to peak to 40v peak to peak.
2. Contact leads now in use, will share the voltage with the remote. Each will get 20v peak to peak.
3. 20v peak to peak via contact meets the minimum of 14v recommended for a contact session.
4. 20v peak to peak matches what we are already sending to the remote in the remote presets.
The only caveat here is that if you did elect to unplug the remote, your contact session would be 4 times as powerful. For some, the constant plugging in and unplugging of the remote makes the above setup worth using.
