The problem with starting two generators running the same frequencies at the same time is that it's possible (but highly unlikely) that one may be 180 degrees out of phase with the other. If this happens, both signals cancel each other out. However, the separation must be exactly 180 degrees, and the chances of that are very small.
Delaying the start of each one for five minutes makes cancellation even more unlikely.
