How to use the reduce amplitude button?

If the box is unchecked in the preset, every time you load the preset, it will start out unchecked.

If you then check it and load to the generator, and then later re-select the preset, the box will again start as unchecked.

There are two major considerations here:

1. All presets designed for contact mode should have this box saved as checked. Please verify that you are indeed using a contact preset. I'm not aware of any that are not using this feature.

2.If you created your own preset, you will need to re-save it once you have checked the box for it to remain permanent. However, if you also started out from a contact shell preset, this should have also already been checked. You may want to verify all other contact related settings to ensure they are all enabled/in effect.
