1. Someone thought it was a sign the hard drive was failing. I do have a solid state hard drive that I need to plug into the laptop. Maybe that will help resolve the issue. So far it only shut down on me once and with all the Window OS I've ever had, I've never had it do something like that, came back as an "Unmountable Boot Drive." The updates seemed to resolve it for now, just hope it doesn't continue to be a problem.
2. May I suggest a separate computer that you disable the internet except for when you want to manually get updates to your computer.
