How to avoid damaging Spooky2 components?

Henrik wrote a program to modify the default setup of the CP2102 USB to Serial chip in the XM.

This will alter attribute from 80 to C0 and set the chip to be powered from the xm not the USB.
This only needs to run once to change all connected XMs.

Perhaps Echo can confirm whether the later XMs are all modified in manufacture.
It is possible to check this using the Spooky Utils menu, Identify USB Devices.
