Octaves are exact doubling or halving of frequencies. For example, 200 Hz is an octave of 100 Hz and 50 Hz is a subharmonic octave of 100 Hz. Harmonics include octaves but also other ratios than simple doubling. My guess is that improvements to the software required a rewording to consider new features (new ratios).
