When running a program, am I supposed to change all kinds of settings (wave form, harmonic scale, etc) every single time to make it actually work, or optimized? Or do the programs already have these things taken care of for us?

The Programs don't have anything set.

The user either has to choose a populated Preset, in which case, all of the settings and Programs are already selected.

Select a Shell Preset (which is a prepared group of Settings), and then select Programs to run with those settings.

Or clear all Preset and Programs, manually select all of the setting, then populate the Programs and run.

The Presets populated with programs have already been "optimized" by long-term users to work well for them.

The Shell Presets settings have been selected to provide a good all-around group for the purpose described in the title.
