Can I use my laptop for other things or do I have to dedicate it to the Rife machine only?

You can use the laptop for other things provided it doesn't cause you enough concern to switch back to dedicated mode.

Things that would cause you concern is automatic updates disrupting the software, etc...

I run mine on my primary laptop, always have, and it doesn't bother me a bit. When the computer is updated, I loose a little time, but I just get things going again and I'm good for usually between a month to a few months before another update forces me to reboot again.

S2 hardly takes any computing resources, so leaves plenty of the computer to do other tasks.
