If it would be ok to use an earthing mat which is plugged into ground while I am using contact with the TENS pads?

It is hard to determine whether there would be any interaction or not... I think it would be OK, but without knowing everything about the potential circuit, hard to analyze fully. As such, it is safer to use one at a time.
