The electrodes are perfectly aligned. Please check the photos I sent showing this. The thick borosilicate glass has a refractive index that makes the discs appear out of alignment. Just as a fish bowl makes fish appear larger. It is not possible to have the electrodes out of alignment because the tube is perfectly symmetrical.
