We used the plug type to suit the Alleva coils. These coils are not designed to last very long.

"Coils should be replaced at least every three months, or more often with heavy use." We are developing our own coils which will be much stronger and will never need replacing.
The contact mode will never be felt since the pulse duration is less than half a microsecond. The only way to detect output is through the use of a ground-isolated oscilloscope.
