Can I pause programs at night when I have no power, and resume during the day?

This is fine to do. Of course, it will take longer to account for the hours it’s not running.
Yes, you can. Go to "Global stop" on the Control panel. Then in the morning, go to "Global resume" and it will carry on where you left off. I use it all the time.
