Blaming cholesterol for blood vessel damage is like blaming the firefighters for starting the fire:

So you can ignore medicine's misdirection about what causes atherosclerosis, too. High insulin levels is far more likely (and a highly acidic diet). High homocystine levels also cause this. This means that diabetes itself is a cause of atherosclerosis:

Diabetes type 1 can be - and has been - cured by diet:

To melt away atherosclerosis (plaque), take three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with mother (Bragg's) in warm water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach - wait at least 10 minutes before eating. And again at night before retiring.
To normalize cholesterol and dissolve plaque, four tablespoons of organic extra virgin coconut oil daily. I've just uploaded a file named "Coconut Fudge.pdf" which makes this easy and yummy:

Risk: even if your sister does nothing at all, there is still a chance of a thrombus breaking loose, causing an infarction. This is the nature of the condition. If I were in your sister's situation, I'd consider trying Spooky2 programs for thrombosis and thrombophlebitis. But not while sleeping because this needs very careful monitoring.
After a week to 10 days, I'd consider switching to programs for atherosclerosis. I'd also use Vitamin B6 MW for high homocystine.
In the worst scenario, a cardiac infarction is easy to recognize because of pain. A stroke is harder to spot. Please familiarize yourself with the database programs for stroke by searching for it in Spooky2. Make sure you read all the Program Descriptions. Also use Embolism Cholesterol KHZ and Purpura Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic KHZ.
1. Ask her to smile. Watch for one side of her mouth not responding.
2. Ask her to stick her tongue straight out. Watch to see if it goes to left or right.
3. Ask her to raise both arms in the air.
4. Ask her to speak a simple sentence.
If she has problems with any of these, go to work.
