Instead of stainless cylinders, how about using 1meter x 2meter stainless(or copper) sheet(2~3 mm thick) after putting on the common mattress? I am also thinking of stainless wire mesh instead of plain S/S sheet. Please advise.

You can use stainless steel as long as it is the right grade S/S. You can not use copper, since copper can degrade, and it will bring poise to you.
